HO scale (1/87) Kirow KRC 1200 TSO railway crane manufactured by Kleinspoor. Model in kit form, to be assembled and painted. Supplied unmarked and non-motorised.
Model with jib and counterweight modified from the SNCF version.
The actual model :
The Kirow KRC 1200 railway crane has a lifting capacity of 150 t, and is mainly used for lifting derailed or damaged trains, as well as maintaining and renovating sections of track. Manufactured in Germany, a single model was purchased by SNCF in 2007 to replace the Cockerill and Caillard cranes.
To meet the growing demand for this type of work, TSO took the opportunity to acquire a crane with a different jib and counterweight from the SNCF model, thus gaining in flexibility, speed and autonomy.
In circulation, it is accompanied by two wagons (a counterweight wagon and a baggage wagon) which also enable it to distribute its considerable mass and make it capable of travelling at 100 km/h.
The miniature model:
Kleinspoor is a Dutch manufacturer renowned for its HO production of various work train vehicles and equipment. Each model is delivered in kit form and contains a multitude of fine, robust parts made from resin, white metal and thermoformed plastic. For assembly and decoration, we urge you to read the article published in RMF 503 in June 2007, in which Bernard Ciry explains step by step how to assemble and super-detail this superb model. Once assembled, this crane has all the functions of the real thing: articulated turret, telescopic jib and arm, adjustable supports, running on two trucks, etc.... It's also worth noting that this craftsman offers a whole range of paint options for decorating his models, as well as transfer boards for a wide range of customisation options. All in all, you'll have a model that's original and rare in the modelling world, giving you an exceptional opportunity to put it into action on part of a layout or diorama!
